SecureRF Announces Mike McGregor as COO to Secure the Internet of Things

SecureRF, a leading provider of security for the Internet of Things, announces the appointment of seasoned IC veteran, Mike McGregor, as its Chief Operating Officer. McGregor assumes the helm of the new Silicon Valley regional office located in Morgan Hill, CA, which reinforces SecureRF’s commitment to its growing customer base and support of the semiconductor community.

McGregor brings over 30 years of integrated circuit design and development experience that covers a large section of the digital design arena, especially in the areas of cryptography, communications and digital signal processing.

In his new role, McGregor will lead the company’s development of cryptographic protocols for low-energy embedded devices in consumer, commercial and industrial applications. With a focus on SecureRF’s AECore, a family of Algebraic Eraser™ Public Key Cryptography cores, McGregor will collaborate with firms introducing security to FPGAs, ASICs, ARM Cortex M0/M3 processors, low power wireless technologies such as Bluetooth Smart, NFC, and RFID solutions that are part of the Internet of Things.

Formerly, McGregor was CEO and founder of TopoLogic Semiconductors Corporation designing crypto processors based on NSA Suite B for the smart grid and bitcoin mining. Prior to TopoLogic, McGregor served as VP of Semiconductor Engineering at Intelleflex Corp. In 2007, McGregor acted as a key developer of EPC Gen1 and Gen2 compliant passive RFID tags as well as battery assisted passive tag ICs at Alien Technology Corp. He also served as the Vice President of Engineering at LuxN, Rendition, Inc. (subsequently acquired by Micron Technology Inc.), and Odeum Microsystems, Inc.

“Securing many of the low-resource devices on the IoT is a challenge for many of our customers. We are thrilled to have Mike on board with his deep background in device architecture and cryptography,” stated Louis Parks, CEO of SecureRF. Parks further added,

“With strong engineering and operations expertise, Mike will further grow and develop our offerings, which address the smallest and fastest security solutions for low-resource platforms.”
