The Security Traders Association of New York to Address Bitcoin at Its Annual Conference

The Security Traders Association of New York (“STANY”) today announced that it will accept payment in Bitcoin for tickets to its Annual Conference and Dinner.

Sweetening the deal is Atlas ATS, the New-York-based cryptocurrency exchange, which has agreed to match the amount of Bitcoin-purchased tickets, up to $1,000. The actual Bitcoin transactions will be handled by GoCoin, the leading international payment platform for Bitcoin and Litecoin.

“Part of STANY’s mission is to educate its members about new industry developments and opportunities. In addition to a panel discussion of cryptocurrencies, we thought we would encourage members to gain some first-hand experience using digital currency to pay for the event itself,” said STANY CEO and Executive Director, Kim Unger.

“Now that we have launched a secure, state-of-the art trading platform for cryptocurrencies that was actually built by Wall Street veterans, we want to make sure that the rest of Wall Street is aware of what’s out there and how fast things have changed,” said William Karsh, Chairman of Atlas ATS.

“STANY’s annual conference is a perfect opportunity for traders to learn what has been happening in this space.”

“We work with not only merchants seeking to reduce transaction costs for payment processing, but also with NGO’s and non-profits simply looking to boost donations. Everyone has the ability to accept cryptocurrenices for payment if they have a vendor like GoCoin that provides a reliable back-end system to exchange the coins for cash and eliminate volatility and risk.” said Brock Pierce, Chairman of GoCoin.

“Cryptocurrencies have the chance to be at the center of the second e-commerce revolution. I look forward to our panel discussion at the STANY conference.”

STANY’s 78th Annual Conference and Dinner will take place from 8 AM until 9 PM on April 10, 2014 at Three Sixty 10 Desbrosses Street, New York City. The “Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies--Changing the Face of Money” Panel will begin at 9:30 AM. and features the following:

Bitcoins Affected by New York's BitLicense May Trade at Discount

With New York's BitLicense scheme officially three months away, sophisticated traders are already devising strategies to profit from the potential arbitrage opportunities. If implemented in the regulation's final version, the physical address and identification requirements (Sections 200.12 and 200.15) for both sides of a transaction will dilute the inherent privacy of the overall bitcoin network. Due to potential IP address blocking and other techniques to identify and block New York-based traders, the exchanges operating within the jurisdiction may end up 'ring-fencing' themselves and....
