BitScan Pty Ltd. launches its Bitcoin App for Android
BitScan Pty Ltd, have unveiled their new Android app, alongside a major facelift for the iOS version, at San Francisco’s premier bitcoin conference, Coinsumm.it. Both apps showcase Bitscan’s mapped and searchable, bitcoin business directory which now contains around 6,500 bitcoin businesses and is growing fast.
Responding to market feedback to their first iOS app, the BitScan team have produced a much faster, more focused and intuitive product that benefits from heavy investment in their back-end technology. Re-organizing their data behind a REST API has harvested huge performance gains and a far simpler User Interface.
These performance gains are evident across Bitscan’s product range, which include a re-vamped website, customizable widgets and an API that allows third party developers the possibility of utilizing BitScan’s data in their own products.
Driven by the aim of promoting bitcoin adoption through commerce, BitScan’s apps put the blossoming bitcoin economy in the palm of your hand, allowing consumers to find merchants that accept bitcoin and those merchants with a means of reaching out to their target market.
With a robust and scalable foundation in place, and full coverage of the mobile market achieved, BitScan’s focus is already shifting to the provision of additional tools that promote bitcoin commerce.
“Counterparty trust is, understandably, a big issue in the bitcoin space” said Rob Wilson, CEO of BitScan. “While multi-signature technology will, once commercially implemented, go some way to reducing the trust component in consumers’ spending decisions, bitcoin needs a means by which merchants can establish, build and demonstrate their trust credentials up-front. BitScan is working hard to provide them with the means of doing so”.

The Sydney-based team are positioning to launch their unique Trust IP in the near future and will continue to evolve their services to both consumers and merchants, as they strive to make a positive difference throughout and beyond the bitcoin community.
