Land Rover of Redwood City, CA Sells First Land Rover with Bitcoin Using BitPay

BitPay Inc., the world leader in business solutions for virtual currencies, announces that Land Rover of Redwood CityCalifornia is it’s most recent business to start accepting bitcoins using BitPay. Serving the San Francisco metro area, Land Rover of Red wood City is the first Land Rover Dealership to accept bitcoins.

“For businesses who don’t want the challenges of holding and managing bitcoins, we can settle their account in dollars so they never have to account for the bitcoins.”

The dealership was approached by a prominent Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist wanting to purchase a new vehicle with bitcoins. The team had very little knowledge of bitcoins to draw from.

“Realizing we need to be ready to accept change in this constantly broadening virtual community, we agreed to our first Bitcoin sale,” said Doug Doyle, General Sales Manager with Land Rover of Redwood City.

“Although the concept of Bitcoin is hard to grasp, the process as put forth by BitPay is quite simple. Just send an invoice and the money shows up in your account. Simple and seamless just as they said.”

Land Rover Redwood City has been a proud member of the Qvale Automotive Group since 2000. The Qvale family sold their first car in 1947,and now owns a chain of luxury dealerships throughout California and Florida.

Bitcoin, a peer-to-peer payment network and digital currency, has substantially lower payment processing fees than those of credit cards or money transfers with the opportunity of true flat rate pricing. BitPay’s Bitcoin Payment Gateway API is the most advanced and most reliable bitcoin-processing platform, which is one of the reasons that Land Rover of Redwood City chose to partner with BitPay. BitPay enables them to receive payment next-day into their bank account.

“We make it easy for businesses like Land Rover of Redwood City to accept bitcoin as a form of payment,” said Tony Gallippi, co-founder and CEO of BitPay.

“For businesses who don’t want the challenges of holding and managing bitcoins, we can settle their account in dollars so they never have to account for the bitcoins.”
