Hackers will have 24 hours to showcase their skills and vision using the APIs, SDKs and other tools from today's leading innovators in Payments and Financial Services including: Blockchain, Feedzai, First Data, MasterCard, Modo, PayPal, Vantiv, Visa and Worldpay.
Ten winning teams will share the $125,000 prize pool, with five $20,000 and five $5,000 cash prizes provided by Money20/20. Sponsors will have the chance to provide additional incentives as well. The overall winning team will also have the opportunity to present their solution as part of Money20/20's exclusive Launchpad360, a program that provides companies with a forum to showcase their leading-edge innovation in front of an audience of thousands of investors, media and other ecosystem participants. The prior two year's Launchpad360 participants have collectively raised more than $150 million. Money20/20 will also provide qualified participants with a $250 stipend to cover travel, lodging and other expenses.
Here's what our current Money20/20 Hackathon sponsors have to say:
"Blockchain is very excited to be returning as a sponsor for the second annual Money20/20 Hackathon. Last year's projects were incredible and this event draws some of the top programmers in the world, so we're excited to see how they'll push the envelope forward in 2015." -Nicolas Cary, Co-Founder, Blockchain
"The engagement for Feedzai at 2014's Money20/20 Hackathon was just unbelievable and we're thrilled to be back in 2015. The collaboration amongst sponsors and developers not only drives creative solutions, but creates amazing awareness for everyone involved. This environment is what will drive Fintech to continue its hot streak." - Nuno Sebastiao, CEO, Feedzai
"First Data is thrilled to participate in this year's hackathon. We're bringing our digital payment and commerce solutions along with the developers who built them. We're excited to see the innovative ways the developers will leverage our building blocks to embed payments into their applications." - Bruce Dragt, SVP, Global eCommerce at First Data.
"As part of our ongoing commitment to the developer community, MasterCard is pleased to sponsor the Money20/20 Hackathon in 2015. This represents the second year we have sponsored the event, following a 2014 engagement that featured an extremely successful MasterCard API challenge with numerous, high quality submissions. The winner of our 2014 challenge, entercharge, went on to win another major hackathon shortly after and has since begun to grow its business. Money 20/20 provides MasterCard the opportunity for continued collaboration with the developer community and a forum to establish direct connections with participants and other sponsors – which in turn brings invaluable support to the entrepreneurs seeking to innovate in the Fintech space." - Seb Taveau, Chief Developer Evangelist, MasterCard
"Sponsoring the inaugural Money20/20 Hackathon last year was one of the best things that ever happened to us. No, seriously. We brought our whole team, and were blown away by the energy, talent, and awesomeness of the developers who came to jam on our API (amongst others). This event is quickly emerging as the Ultimate World Championship of Hackathons with the biggest prizes, the best sponsors, and the most gonzo coders. Can't wait to see another high intensity Fintech innovation fest." - Bruce Parker, Founder & CEO at Modo
"Vantiv is thrilled to return as a sponsor of the Money20/20 Hackathon," said Matt Ozvat, vice president, developer integrations at Vantiv. "Last year's Grand Prize winner, Payperless, used Mercury's StoreCard APIs to create a way to pay merchants with bitcoin, without any changes to existing infrastructure and business processes. When developers are given the opportunity to build on an open platform using robust APIs, the innovation they can deliver is powerful. Vantiv is proud to foster that creativity at both Money20/20 and through our comprehensive suite of developer tools." - Matt Ozvat, Vice President, Developer Integrations, Vantiv
"Today's consumers expect seamless commerce, and Worldpay is excited to partner with the best Fintech Devs from around the world at the Money20/20 Hackathon to make that happen. With so many exciting tools and technologies available, we're positive the results are going to be phenomenal." - Chester Ritchie, Senior Vice President of Market Development, Worldpay
"At last year's inaugural Money20/20 Hackathon, more than 450 developers collaborated with 10 sponsoring companies to create more than 100 projects in just 24 hours. The groundbreaking level of development--for our sponsors and our industry--that occurs in a single day at the Money20/20 Hackathon serves as an important catalyst for payments and financial services innovation. Going into our second year, we expect the Money20/20 Hackathon to continue this unprecedented standard for Fintech Hackathons globally." - Simran Aggarwal, Founder & President, Money20/20
