Ethereum Responds to Recent DDoS Attack
The Ethereum network was recently attacked by an opcode called Excodesize that slowed down the network, causing blocks to take as long as 60 seconds to validate, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin noted in a blog on Thursday. Buterin recently noted on Reddit that Go developers are actively working on client code changes to process Wednesday’s attack blocks quickly. The Go code that the developers built is in many cases able to process attack blocks faster than the current latest release, but the team wants to be sure that 1) the speedup covers all attack blocks, 2) it does not introduce new....

BTC-e was down briefly on Sunday, following a powerful distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack against its servers. DDoS attacks against bitcoin exchanges have gained notoriety since the 'massive and concerted' attack which targeted multiple organisations earlier this year. However, in the current climate of uncertainty even a harmless attack can be misinterpreted, with speculation spreading like wildfire on social media. Luckily BTC-e was quick to confirm the attack and dismiss fears - it was just another DDoS attack, now all too common in the world of bitcoin. DDoS attack on our....
The recent DDoS attack faced by Coinsecure led to a temporary disruption of services. Cryptocurrency platforms across the world are constantly under the threat of various forms of cyberattacks. While the attackers’ intentions may be several, they are generally of no good. Yesterday, Coinsecure — a leading Indian Bitcoin trading and blockchain services company became a target of one such attack. According to the company’s communication to its customers, the platform came under a DDoS attack which forced them to disable most of its services for few hours. The attack on Coinsecure seems to be....
The internet infrastructure and risk-mitigating company, Cloudflare Inc., reportedly prevented the largest distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack earlier this month, calling it the most volumetric attack the company has recorded to date. BTCC, the Shanghai, China-based digital currency exchange, suffered a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, the company noted on Dec. 31, 2015, on Twitter. The attack hampered BTCC’s access to its APIs and other services for a period of time. It marks the most recent in a growing number of DDoS attacks demanding bitcoin ransoms, including one in November against CCN. “Our website is under DDoS attack, which is hampering access to our APIs and other services,” BTCC tweeted on Dec. 31. “We are working quickly to resolve the situation.” In referencing a previous DDoS attack faced by....
Bitcoin exchange BTE-C has reported via its official Twitter account that it is, at this time, experiencing a DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack that may or may not be affecting all services. The uncertainty comes from the lack of explanation from BTC-E. The tweet, which only reads "DDos #btce" (pictured above), seemingly speaks for itself, however. Bitcoin exchanges are often targets of DDOS attacks, but many have learned to deal with these situations as a result of being victims multiple times (see Mt. Gox). More updates as they become available.
