Nifty News: BAYC hodler loses 100 ETH in 'joke' domain sale gone wrong
Nickelodeon’s sell-out NFT drop has surged to second place on OpenSea’s 24-hour sales volume chart, and former Simpson’s animator Erick Tran is working on an animated NFT series. A major Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT hodler lost 100 Ether (ETH), worth $150,000 as a result of a joke bid on his own registered Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain. An interesting report from news website CryptoCoinsNews.com reveals some interesting information with regard to a bitcoin-related domain sale. Josh Garza of GAWMiners miners told the website that he managed to pick up the BTC.com domain name for a whopping $1.1 million - a record sale in the bitcoin industry. Other bitcoin-related domain names have previously gone up for sale, but none have been bought for quite as much as BTC.com, which is the most commonly used symbol for bitcoin (and it'll really stink for Garza if the community decides to formally adopt XBT as the symbol). In February....

There's now a chance to pick up the domain, with news today that the domain will hit the auction block later this month as part of Heritage Auctions' Domain Names & Intellectual Property Auction, which will see the sale of a slew high-value of web addresses. If the fact that a three-letter domain name wasn't enough, it also represents the most common abbreviation of bitcoin. So if you're not getting the point here, it's a rare domain, and it's likely anything but cheap. "Whether you're a Bitcoin startup or existing company wishing to solidify your authority....
This piece has been updated following the official announcement of the sale by Domain Guardians. The final sale price was $1m rather than $1.1m as originally stated by GAWMiners CEO Josh Garza. The domain name BTC.com has been sold to bitcoin mining equipment specialist GAWMiners. It had been on the market for less than a month before GAWMiners chief executive Josh Garza secured the $1m deal. GAWMiners is a relatively large mining hardware vendor. The Connecticut-based firm sells a wide range of SHA-256 and scrypt ASICs, including hardware from Bitmain, Gridseed, Innosilicon, Rock Miner,....
The domain name Bitcoins.com, owned by Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpeles, is set to be sold off through US-based auction house Heritage Auctions on 24th July. The sale of the domain name is part of Heritage's 2014 Domain Names Signature Auction and is expected to garner at least $750,000, owing to what the auction house calls the high-value of the domain name. The auction will begin with an opening bid of $185,000. It is perhaps the highest-profile auction of a bitcoin-related web address to date. In the past year, several domain names have been sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars, including....
