KnCMiner has announced the tape-out of its Titan scrypt miner. This means every detail in the chip design has been finalized and it is now moving on to manufacturing, no chip design changes are possible beyond this point. The company said the first batch of Titan miners will ship "well within" the promised timeframe for pre-order customers, which is the third quarter of 2014. KnCMiner has announced its first mining rig dedicated to scrypt mining - the aptly named Titan. At $9,995, it won't come cheap, and the company has not yet revealed its full spec, either. KnC claims the Titan will deliver a minimum of 100MH/s and, in some respects, it resembles a traditional PC, although it is based on the company's Jupiter form factor. The rig measures 60 x 50 x 20cm and weighs just 4kg. A standard ATX power supply is required, which does not ship with the unit.
