Bug in Ethereum client leads to split — EVM-compatible chains at risk

“Stay away from doing [transactions] for a while till confirmed, unless you are sure you are submitting to latest Geth,” advised Andre Cronje. A major consensus bug has affected more than half the Ethereum network’s nodes, causing those running older versions of Geth to split from the main network.According to Ethereum software developer Marius van der Wijden, an attacker exploited a vulnerability affecting earlier versions of Geth, one of Ethereum's software clients. According to the developer, Geth clients and Ethereum nodes running software v1.10.7 or earlier are at risk of splitting....

Embrace Ethereum: Advantages of EVM-compatible Public Chains

The race between public chains, which are the cornerstone of the blockchain industry, has always been at the center of attention. Recently, along with the impending Merge and the boom of new, Move-based public chains, the category has once again attracted the spotlight. While Ethereum stays the dominant player in the sector, emerging public chains […]

How A Security Vulnerability Affected Ethereum And Led To A Chain Split

The Ethereum network is facing a chain split after an exploit forced over 50% of its nodes to upgrade their client to prevent further attacks. This security vulnerability was detected, reported, and fixed by Go Ethereum, developers of the affected client, Geth. On August 24th, 2021, via their official Twitter handle, Go Ethereum and its […]

Dragonfly Research claims Ethereum is the 'MS-DOS' of blockchains

Research shows that throughput on Solana surpassed the leading EVM chain by a wide margin, leading researchers to predict that competing Layer 1 chains will out-do EVM chains. An experiment from Dragonfly Research that compared the performance of six blockchains by testing the capacity of Automated Market Makers on each has found Solana’s Orca DEX was the clear winner in trades per second. It managed 273.34 trades per second and created a new block every 590 milliseconds.Binance Smart Chain (BSC) wasn’t too far behind with 194.6 trades per second on PancakeSwap, followed by Polygon....

Sifchain Rolls Out the Latest Peggy 2.0 Update

Sifchain, the omni-chain DEX platform connected to the Cosmos network, recently rolled out the 2.0 update for its signature product Peggy. Peggy is a two-way bridge that connects Sifchain to the Ethereum network and enables a seamless flow of assets between the chains. Now that Sifchain is connected to the Cosmos network, Peggy also facilitates the transfer of assets from Ethereum to any of the chains connected to Cosmos. This innovative project gained significant traction from the market, and capitalizing on this success, Peggy has now rolled out the new and improved Peggy 2.0. This....

Crypto.com deploys its Ethereum Virtual Machine chain testnet

Running on a proof-of-authority consensus algorithm, Cronos is powered by Ethermint, a proof-of-stake chain interoperable with Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains. The Crypto.com chain testnet allowing projects built on Ethereum to transfer over to its ecosystem from chains compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine is now live.In a Tuesday announcement, Crypto.com said it had launched the testnet for its Ethereum Virtual Machine, or EVM, chain called Cronos, running in parallel to the Crypto.org chain. The chain is aimed at providing developers the ability to move projects from Ethereum and....
