YrGrid Membership Exceeds 2,000-User Mark

After record breaking growth in April, YrGrid, a virtual world driven by its Bitcoin economy, reports that more than 2,000 users across 67 different countries have joined their service since it opened in January. YrGrid fashions itself as a platform for both entertainment and business with an emphasis on providing its customers with a strong foundation for creating or expanding their businesses on the global market.

“The biggest benefit for business in YrGrid is the ability to make your ideas, products, and services reachable by anybody,” said grid founder, Kit Wang,

“If you have a shop in the real world, you can’t move it around and expand it or offer your products to wider market without investing a lot of time, money, and resources to do so. We envision a virtual world where you can set up a shop with all your products, accessible to every part of the world, allowing you to demonstrate your products and offer services in an immersive 3D environment using Bitcoins at a fraction of the cost.”

Many attribute the growth to YrGrid’s unique approach to a virtual world economy. YrGrid has adopted Bitcoin as their currency for user-to-user transactions unlike traditional virtual worlds that operate their own virtual currencies.

“The main reason I chose YrGrid. It doesn’t control the currency because it uses Bitcoin. Which means for me and my clients, virtually unlimited cash outs, tons of payment options, and no need to worry that the grid operator will print an infinite amount of currency,” explained Andy Grant, a business owner, operating a gaming area in YrGrid.

Utilizing Bitcoin allows real world business to operate not only on a virtual level, but goods and services may be purchased instantly from inside the platform. With no central exchange, users are able to spend, buy, and sell Bitcoin instantly using third parties that fit their needs. Bitcoin is treated as a real currency not an investment in the grid with wait times or hold ups for cashing out.
“We are all about putting our customers in control,” said Cindy Chidester, Technical Director for YrGrid, “and the best way to do that is to give them unlimited and immediate access not only to their virtual environments but to their money. I think it’s paying off immensely.”
