Bitcoin Payments Removed from Fancy's iOS App at Apple's Request
New York-based social e-commerce website Fancy has removed bitcoin payments from its iOS app at the request of Apple. The announcement was made in conjunction with its release of Version 3.3.0 of its iOS app on 5th March, and was visible under the "What's new" portion of the App Store where app updates are displayed. Fancy has been accepting bitcoin since 23rd January, when it revealed the news to customers via email, thereby becoming one of the largest and most well-funded merchants to accept bitcoin. The company announced that it would add a bitcoin payment option for both its Android....

Back in late January, social sharing e-commercial platform Fancy.com included the option to pay for products in bitcoin. That capability carried over to the company's mobile application - but as of today, the pay-in-bitcoin feature in Fancy's iOS app is no longer available. In version 3.3.0 of the app, released March 5th, the change-log says: "Removed Bitcoin per Apple's request". Certainly interesting, but surprising? Not in the least. Cupertino-based Apple has started an all-out offensive against any applications that allow bitcoin payments (informational apps, on the other hand, are....
Pay with Bitcoin on iOS? Not anymore. By now everyone knows that Apple isn't too fond of Bitcoin. The company has removed every single Bitcoin wallet application from the iOS App Store, with Blockchain being the last one. The reason for Apple's anti-Bitcoin stance isn't entirely clear. It's possible that Apple doesn't want to deal with the legal issues of a currency whose regulatory status is unclear and inconsistent in most countries. For instance, when Coinbase was removed from the App Store, Apple's reasoning was that apps must "comply with all legal requirements in any location where....
An aggrieved user has started a petition to force Apple to approve bitcoin wallet applications for its shiny iPhones. San Francisco gent Joshua Seims has started the petition on change.org to request Apple change its policy. The petition says: "To: Apple. Please allow Bitcoin wallets on the iPhone. We need a mobile Bitcoin client, and if Apple won't deliver one, we'll move to Android." Apple has already removed several bitcoin wallets citing terms of service and developers' obligation to obey local laws wherever their apps are available - even though no nation has yet banned Bitcoin.....
The Blockchain.info app on the iOS App Store has been removed by Apple today, in a shocking move the company says has been caused by "an unresolved issue". Blockchain.info's application was the last remaining bitcoin wallet on the app store, with others being taken down in a similar fashion by Apple. Even Coinbase's app found itself removed a mere three weeks after it was released. A lengthy response to Apple's moved was published on Blockchain.info's blog Wednesday evening. These actions by Apple once again demonstrate the anti-competitive and capricious nature of the App Store policies....
SaruTobi creator Christian Moss has confirmed that the iOS game has been temporarily removed from Apple's App store. Speaking to CoinDesk, Moss said that the tech giant had removed SaruTobi over concerns that users could mistake its in-game bitcoin with real bitcoin. The game, which lets users swing a monkey from a vine in a bid to collect bitcoin tokens, tips users in real bitcoin and allows them to purchase animated coins with no real-world value for use in the app. Moss said that the issue had now been fixed and that the app is currently awaiting Apple's review. Apple and bitcoin. Moss....
