Alpha Technology Initiates Scrypt ASIC Tape-Out
Alpha Technology has a new development update and its Viper scrypt board seems to be making headway. The British ASIC maker said it has completed the schematics for the ATX power distribution board and of the AC power metering board. Those of the actual ASIC board are not complete yet, but Alpha said it is "almost" done. In addition, the company has finalised the design of the enclosure and WebGUI user interface. ASIC tape-out initiated. Alpha said it is currently in the process of initiating tape-out at GlobalFoundries. The chip design has been finalised and sent to the foundry for....

KnCMiner announced its first scrypt miner yesterday and today it reported that it already has $2m worth of pre-orders. In fact, all the orders for KnC's Titan models were made in just four hours. The Titan is based on the KnC Jupiter form factor, but it is an entirely different beast, as it's based on a scrypt ASIC rather than a bitcoin ASIC. KnC has not said much about the spec, we still don't know the details, but the company says the Titan can deliver 100MH/s. It is priced at $9,995. According to the International Business Times, KnC plans to build 2,500 miners in its initial production....
Alpha Technology was working towards shipping their Viper units by the end of July, but due to technical issues, they had to go through a second-tape-out process, thus delaying the shipments. They waited until July 28th to tell customers about this little surprise, distancing themselves from their claim of being transparent. Their news even went so far as to "remind" all of their customers that they upgraded their devices from 25MH/s to 250MH/s back in May. Even though PayPal did what PayPal does best, and locked Alpha Technology's funds, Alpha Technology was still able to fund the second....
Fibonacci.io website is now offline and the Scrypt ASIC Miners do not appear to be forthcoming. That's right. Scrypt ASIC miners are coming soon. Out of all the companies promising to deliver scrypt ASICs by mid 2014 (Alpha Technology, Flower Technology, and Fibonacci), Fibonacci Inc. is considered the most likely to ship first based on its CEO Jasin Hudgins' (alias jasinlee) posts and reputation on Bitcointalk and Litecointalk. The team has been working on their ASIC for a little over a year now. Just recently, Fibonacci's official website went online. The website seems to be in its very....
Alpha Viper circuit board. Alpha Technology has confirmed that shipments of its Viper Scrypt miner will suffer delays of up to a month. The company had previously planned to ship the 'batch one' units in September, but now says the date has been moved to October. "We are confident that we will be shipping in the latter half of October 2014, provided everything goes as planned," director Mohammad Akram told CoinDesk, explaining: "We are doing our best to ensure our customers receive the highest quality of product, which is performing at, if not better the advertised hash rates and power....
British ASIC designer Alpha Technology has revised the spec for its upcoming Viper scrypt miner, promising a significant speed boost, but also dropping a few features in the process. The hashing power gains are significant: Alpha had originally promised 5 MH/s and 25 MH/s units, but earlier this year it revised those figures to 16 MH/s and 90 MH/s respectively. Now it is promising to deliver 50 MH/s and 250 MH/s - 10 times the original rates. The company says the decision was made after long consideration and lengthy negotiations with its partners, coupled with strong competition in the....
