It was just yesterday we posted about Blockchain.info and their now 1.9 million MyWallet users (embarrassingly enough my original headline read '1.9 users' leading to a bit of confusion). The Blockchain.info app on the iOS App Store has been removed by Apple today, in a shocking move the company says has been caused by "an unresolved issue". Blockchain.info's application was the last remaining bitcoin wallet on the app store, with others being taken down in a similar fashion by Apple. Even Coinbase's app found itself removed a mere three weeks after it was released. A lengthy response to Apple's moved was published on Blockchain.info's blog Wednesday evening. Blockchain.info is setting all sorts of records lately. Most recently, the internet's most popular bitcoin-related web property announced they had surpassed 1.5 million web wallets. Now, according to the service's wallet page, over $3.1 billion worth of bitcoin has successfully been transacted using the Blockchain web wallet. Certainly an impressive milestone. Blockchain continues to grow, now with 1.69 million web wallets set up and between 25,000 - 30,000 transactions taking place using the service every day. Less than an hour ago, Apple pulled Blockchain.info's iPhone app from the App Store without any specific reason. The email that Blockchain CEO Nicolas Cary received stated that the app had been "removed from the App Store due to an unresolved issue." Interestingly, Blockchain was the only Bitcoin wallet app on the App Store, as other wallet apps such as Coinbase were yanked last year. So at the moment, it looks like there are absolutely no Bitcoin wallet apps on the App Store. So much for that teaser from a few days ago. Coming soon? Probably not at this rate. The company has just reached its 2 million user mark last year and has since doubled the amount of clients it serves. Hundreds of bitcoins were stolen from Blockchain.info users. The company admitted that a technical issue during a software update of the popular Bitcoin wallet created a temporary security hole, and is now reimbursing the users who lost their bitcoins. The security hole was only open for a couple of hours, but that small window was apparently enough for hackers to take bitcoins from many Blockchain.info users.
