The Electronic Turkish Visa Application System is an easy-to-use eVisa website, but it has its faults. In addition to the limited and expensive nature of the system's payment options, travelers have often complained that the site does not accept their credit cards. These travelers can opt to use an unofficial third-party site to complete their visa transactions, but many of these websites are scams designed to look exactly like the government site. Some of these sites can charge up to £99 in service fees.
"Last year when I visited Turkey, the government website did not accept my Visa card because it was not chip enabled," said Sergio Merino, the company's co-founder and an alumni from the Harvard Business School.
"I had to pay an exorbitant service fee in order to enter the country. I realized immediately there was a void to be filled."
Many countries around the world are adopting eVisa systems to save travelers the hassle of visiting a consulate. Countries implementing this type of system include Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Cambodia, Canada (2016), India, Kenya, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Turkey and the United States.
